During the liberation of Europe, the Battle of Aachen was a significant battle conducted between Allied and German forces in and around Aachen, Germany. The battle took place in October 1944. Aachen was the first city on German soil to be captured by the Allies. You will discover many iconic sites and stories in the city, including the location of the Aachen special courts, the Oppenhoffallee Monument and the traces of war at St. Foillan Church.
